Phillip Crowe

The most important influence in Phillip's life had been his early years in the outdoors. "My grandfather and my father were quail hunters in Southern Illinois, and they let me tag along and be their retriever". Phillip's mother was most instrumental in nudging him to go to the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. It was this great learning experience that laid the ground work for Crowe's love of painting. "I can remember sitting on the floor with Mom, painting until 2 o'clock in the morning, what great times they were."
After graduation from Ringling, Crowe moved into the arena of Commercial Art, and Advertising. "The Advertising business was crazy and I had to have some relief, so I started painting wildlife at night to escape the pressure". As Crowe painted the wildlife and the great outdoors, the demand for his art grew, as did his range of subject matter. Blue sky days with flights of mallards, icy mornings with big handsome canvasbacks ripping through the icy wave tops, silent white tails easing through the woods, an exploding covey of bobwhites, majestic eagles, and least we forget the outlaw antics of those adorable puppies.
Crowe has dedicated his time and art to various organizations for the community and preservation of the wildlife that he loves. He has painted 35 state duck and conservation stamps and has donated approximately $4 million in art prints and originals to organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, the Nature Conservancy, as well as many state and wildlife agencies, also by donating time at charity events such as the Louise Mandrell Celebrity Shoot to help raise money for the Boy Scouts of America, Ruffed Grouse Society for habitat environment. Crowe feels that "the environment is fragile, the balance is our responsibility and we most protect the outdoors for our children and their future." It is safe to say the Crowe is doing his part to protect and serve the wildlife community that he loves dearly.
